Waterford Wildlife activities include ongoing fieldwork throughout the County and bird-ringing at various sites; insect trapping and the determination of species caught; constant scanning of the natural history journals for published local information and updating the Waterford Wildlife database with all field and book data that is new. It writes a weekly article on the wildlife of Waterford for a local City newspaper ( Waterford Today ) and offers advice and guidance to community bodies on their local biodiversity when requested insofar as up-to-date information is available for particular locations and species. Waterford Wildlife is non commercial, non political and non profit-making. All information is supplied free of any charge to any who request it. Those that can are asked to make a contribution to offset costs but this is not conditional in any way. Information will continue to be supplied as an altruistic gesture to progress the knowledge of Waterford's local flora and fauna. ....

Information on Waterford's wildlife is scattered throughout many books and scientific journals and so is not easily available to the ordinary public at large. The Fauna of Waterford Series brings some of this information together in eleven papers and is supplemented with many unpublished field-records at the start of the twenty-first century. It gives a clear picture at this unique point in time of the status and distribution of every species known to occur in Waterford within the groups involved and also indicates what fieldwork still has to be carried out to close the many gaps in our knowledge. Others in the series are at an advanced stage of preparation. The following titles are available Free of Charge ... |
